| Dr. Enrico Nicolo, 79, of Jefferson Hills, PA, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024, surrounded by family. Born in Ripa Teatina, Italy to Costantino and Anna Nicolo. Enrico is survived by his loving wife, Judy Nicolo; daughter, Melisa and her husband Ryan; grandchildren, Archer and Max; siblings, Maria and Isidoro; and numerous nieces and nephews. In his younger years, Enrico was recruited to play professional soccer but chose to attend medical school. Enrico attended La Sapienza University and completed his medical studies at the University of Roma. He married in 1976, and relocated to the US in 1979 where he began his practice. He spent many years as a General Surgeon at McKeesport Hospital and Jefferson Hospital. Enrico joined ICS in 1994 and had a remarkable career in the US and abroad. During that time he served as the President of the US Section of the International College of Surgeons (2006). Enrico was also a respected member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Hernia Society. His contributions to surgical literature were many, with numerous articles, monographs, and books on the study of hernias. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and lived for his family. Enrico will be deeply missed, but remembered fondly through his work and the lives he touched. |
